The ‘simple you’ is wildly extraordinary

There was a time when Ionela forgot herself.
She wore “busy” like armor.
Hid behind to-do lists and “not enough-s.”
Let the world call her by titles—eventstrategist, creator, woman-who-should-have-it-together—
while her real name gathered dust.

Pure Ionela.

The one who writes poems at midnight.
The one who rollerskates like the wind is cheering for her.
The one whose creativity doesn’t fit—it overflows.
But for years?
She kept her in a drawer.

What She Thought She Needed:

A better routine.
More discipline.
To “fix” her scattered energy.

What She Actually Craved:

Permission to be exactly as she was—messy, moving, marvellously unfinished.
To look in the mirror and whisper: “Oh. There you are.”

Because here’s the truth Ionela reclaimed:

Freedom isn’t something you find.
It’s something you stop refusing.

Every poem scribbled in margins.
Every time she chose roller-skates over “shoulds.”
Every moment she let her self be fluid instead of framed—
she wasn’t being distracted.
She was coming home.

This Isn’t About Balance

It’s about surrender—the kind that:
✔️ Turns “stuck” into sacred pause.
✔️ Lets creativity be a current, not a commodity.
✔️ Shows others: “Look how softly you can take up space.”
The best part? Ionela didn’t “find herself.”
She just stopped pretending she was lost.

So Here’s Your Invitation:

What’s your name beneath the name?
The version of you that writes just to feel alive.
That dances in kitchens.
That knows freedom isn’t a destination—it’s the way you blink back tears and grin anyway.
You don’t need another self-help book.
You need to meet yourself where you already are.
Because the world doesn’t need more perfect women.
It needs Pure [Your Name].
📸 Let’s capture her.

How One Man Used Photography to Embrace His New Beginning

He didn’t come for a photo. He came for proof.

It was right after the pandemic.

The world was slowly opening up, but inside, Viktor was still navigating shadows.

There had been hardships. Quiet moments of doubt. Days that blurred together.

But somewhere in that stillness, he made a choice.

Not to wait until everything was perfect.

Not to hide the scars or the soft spots.

But to step forward — with it all.

To choose life, not just when it’s easy, but especially when it’s hard.

🌿
He booked a shoot.

Not because he needed a new profile picture.
Not because he wanted something to post.

But because he wanted a moment — this moment — to be remembered.

He said:
“I want my future self to see who I was when I chose to keep going.”

And that stayed with me.

Because what we made that day was more than a portrait.
It was an anchor.

A visual memory of a decision:
To stand tall.
To feel deeply.
To be fully alive — even when things weren’t certain.

📸
Sometimes people think a photo is just about how you look.

But sometimes… it’s about what you claim.

A shoot like this isn’t just about lighting or lenses.
It’s about allowing yourself to be seen in the in-between.
In the becoming. In the deciding.

And when Viktor saw his images, he didn’t just smile.

He nodded.

As if saying:
“Yes. That’s me. That’s who I am when I don’t give up.”

Visibility is not always loud.

Sometimes it’s quiet courage.

A moment captured — not to impress others — but to remind yourself:

“Even here, I was already whole.”

Caffeine & Confidence: A Morning in the Cristina Stoian Portraits Studio

It’s 9:30 A.M. at the studio loft at Cristina Stoian Portraits. The crew is still adjusting the window lights, casting a honeyed glow over the distressed white walls. An assistant—hired just for the morning—works quietly in the corner, the hiss of the coffee machine cutting through the murmur of pre-shoot chatter. The air smells of freshly ground coffee, dark and rich, the kind that kicks your senses awake.
Two stylists orbit you, one dabbing a last bit of highlighter along your cheekbones, the other fussing with the drape of your blazer. The photographer, a brisk girl in all black, scrolls through test shots on her camera, nodding to herself. You take a slow sip from the blue porcelain cup—black, no sugar—feeling the caffeine hit your veins like a jolt of quiet confidence.
Outside, the city is still shaking off its dawn haze. But in here, under the heat of the window lights, everything is sharp, deliberate. The stylist steps back, satisfied. The photographer lifts her head. “Alright,” she says, raising the camera. “Let’s make them look twice.”
You set the coffee down, square your shoulders, and turn toward the lens — ready.

More Than a LinkedIn Photo: How a Professional Headshot Captured My Career Transformation

She Didn’t Need a New Headshot. Until She Realized She Wasn’t the Same Person Anymore.

Her old LinkedIn photo was fine.
Polished. Professional. Safe.

But here’s the problem: It was a relic.

A snapshot of who she used to be—not the leader she’d become.

Because somewhere between then and now, she’d outgrown it:
No longer just a marketer—but a strategist shaping visions.
No longer just a networker—but a community builder rallying change.
No longer waiting for permission—but writing her own rules.

And yet… her profile still showed the old her.

What She Thought She Was Updating:

A sharper headshot.
A more “current” look.
“Just something that that feels more up-to-date?”

What She Actually Gained:

A visual declaration—”This is who I am now.”
The moment she saw the shot and thought, “Yes. That’s the woman who’s building what’s next.”
Not just a photo, but proof of her own evolution.

Because here’s the truth no one talks about:

Your headshot isn’t just a photo.
It’s a timestamp of your ambition.
A mirror held up to your current self—not the version you’ve outgrown.

This Isn’t About Vanity

It’s about alignment—the kind that:
✔️ Makes clients say, “She gets where I’m headed” before you even speak.
✔️ Silences the inner critic whispering “Who do you think you are?” with “This is exactly who I am.”
✔️ Turns imposter syndrome into ownership.

The best part? She didn’t “level up.”
She just finally let her visuals catch up to her reality.

Amsterdam photographer

The Best Amsterdam Photographer for High-End Headshots & Confident Portraits

In a city as dynamic as Amsterdam, your image shouldn’t hold you back—yet so many professionals settle for stiff, unnatural headshots.

Not everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera—and that’s where I come in. As a master poser, I’ve perfected the art of guiding you through every step of the process, from subtle adjustments to natural expressions. Whether you’re camera-shy or unsure how to pose, I’ll transform your experience into one of ease and confidence. Together, we’ll capture the authentic, powerful, and professional version of YOU—because your best side deserves to be seen.

As a leading Amsterdam photographer, I’ve mastered the science of flattering poses and authentic expressions. Whether you need LinkedIn headshots or luxury branding portraits, my Amsterdam studio is designed for high-end results.

Why Amsterdam Professionals Need High-End Photography

Photo Is Your First Impression—Make It Remarkable

  • Blurry selfies or outdated corporate photos make you look unprofessional.
  • Posing awkwardly can undermine your confidence (and your brand).

Let’s face it: In today’s digital world, your photo is often the first handshake you never get to give. A blurry selfie or an outdated corporate headshot can make you look unprofessional, unrelatable, or worse—unmemorable. And in a city like Amsterdam, where innovation and personal branding thrive, settling for ‘good enough’ means fading into the background.

Amsterdam’s business scene is fierce—whether you’re pitching to investors on the Zuidas, networking in the creative hubs of De Pijp, or building a global personal brand. Your competitors are investing in their visuals. Shouldn’t you?

This is why I’ve dedicated my career to helping Amsterdam professionals look as powerful as they are. When your photo radiates confidence, doors open, opportunities arise, and, most importantly, you feel unstoppable.

Amsterdam’s competitive business scene demands polished visuals—whether you’re a startup founder, executive, or creative.
This is why I’ve dedicated my career to helping Amsterdam professionals look as powerful as they are.

What Sets Me Apart

From Camera-Shy to Camera-Ready: The Master Posing Method

Most photographers hand you a stool, tell you to ‘smile naturally,’ and start clicking. But what if you don’t know what ‘natural’ looks like on camera? That’s where my method stands apart. I don’t just photograph you—I teach you how to own your presence. Through subtle adjustments (a tilt of the chin, a shift in weight, a relaxed shoulder), I help you discover poses that feel effortless yet powerful. No modeling experience required—just trust the process.

My Process:

  1. Pre-shoot consultation
We plan your outfits, backdrops, and goals—so you walk into my Amsterdam studio feeling prepared.
  2. Pose coaching
I adjust everything from your shoulder tilt to your gaze, ensuring you look confident, not stiff.
  3. Expression guidance
Smirks, smizes, or serious CEO energy—I’ll help you find the right vibe for your brand.

Don’t take my word for it: Nicollete Lazarus, Womanship Founder & CC0 (Chief Connection Officer) said, <<I’ve never felt so at ease in front of a camera. For the first time, I love myself in my photos.>>

 Who Needs This?

Who Books a High-End Amsterdam Photographer?

  • Amsterdam entrepreneurs updating their LinkedIn to attract investors
  • Executives relocating to the Netherlands who need polished corporate portraits
  • Creatives and coaches building personal brands with standout visuals

“If you’ve ever thought, ‘I hate photos of myself,’ you’re exactly who I love working with.. I live for those lightbulb moments when you see your final images and say, ‘Wait—that’s ME?!’”

Behind the Scenes: My Amsterdam Studio (located in the trendy Funenpark)

Where Magic Happens: A Luxury Photo Experience in Amsterdam

Located in the Center East, more precisely in Het Funen, in the neighbourhood of Oostelijke Eilanden/Kadijken, my studio offers natural light, premium backdrops, and a relaxed atmosphere—far from rushed, fluorescent-lit chains, here you’ll sip coffee, relax, and—dare I say—enjoy the process.

Pricing & Packages

Investment: Because Your Image Is Worth It

Let’s be honest: Cheap photographers exist. But when your image impacts your career, how much is ‘saving money’ really costing you?

My Amsterdam photography sessions start at 269€ ex BTW and include professional hair/makeup, wardrobe guidance, day light studio.
Collections of digital files start at 800€ ex BTW for 5 portraits of your choice and go up from there.

Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful: The Power of Support and Belief

Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you. Misty Copeland

Misty Copeland, the trailblazing ballet dancer, once said, “Be strong, be fearless, be beautiful. And believe that anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.” These words are more than just a mantra; they stand as a testament to the transformative power of resilience, self-belief, and the unwavering support of those around us. In a world that often feels overwhelming, this quote serves as a reminder that we are not alone in our journeys, and with the right mindset and community, we can achieve the extraordinary.

Strength is not just about physical power; it’s about the courage to face challenges head-on. Life will inevitably throw obstacles in our path, but it’s our ability to stand tall and keep moving forward that defines us. Being strong means embracing vulnerability and using it as a stepping stone to grow. It’s about knowing that even on the hardest days, you have the capacity to persevere.
Fearlessness, on the other hand, is about daring to dream big and refusing to let fear dictate your choices. It’s about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing the unknown. Misty Copeland herself broke barriers in the world of ballet, becoming the first African American female principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre. Her journey was not without challenges, but her fearlessness and determination paved the way for countless others.
Beauty, as Misty reminds us, is not just about appearance—it’s about the light within us. It’s the kindness we show, the passion we pursue, and the authenticity we bring to the world. True beauty shines when we are unapologetically ourselves.
Finally, the importance of having the right people to support you cannot be overstated. No one achieves greatness alone. Whether it’s family, friends, mentors, or a community, having people who believe in you can make all the difference. They lift you up when you stumble, celebrate your victories, and remind you of your worth when doubt creeps in.
Let Misty Copeland’s words inspire you. Be strong in the face of adversity, fearless in the pursuit of your dreams, and beautiful in your authenticity. And always remember: with the right people by your side, anything is possible.

New Year, New You

What do you want to keep this year, and what do you want to let go of?

The start of a new year is always a great opportunity to take stock of your life and make edits. What do you want more of this year? What would you prefer to have less of—or none at all? What habits are serving you, and which ones aren’t?Which experiences bring you energy and joy, and how can you stay focused on those? Which friendships light you up, and which ones weigh you down?

For me, this reflection began on my birthday when someone asked me, “What would you like for the new year?”

Surprisingly, my immediate response was, “I want everything to change.”

I don’t think I meant everything, though. I’m truly happy with my family and friendships. But when it comes to my business life, I realize I’m craving something different—a change, a spark.

So, what would I like for the new year? It’s not entirely obvious. But deep down, I’m secretly craving a more social life and stronger connections in the business world. You can expect more in-person events from me this year—that’s my wish, at least. I also want to connect more deeply with all of you.

Why do you follow me? What would you like to see here? How can I enrich your life by showing up? And lastly, why not grab coffee together?

And one more question: What do you want this year? How do you want to be photographed? Do you have a secret desire or goal for the year ahead?
I’d love to know.

The Magic of Pausing: Rethinking Your Life and Counting Your Victories

You get on the hamster wheel and forget what you have achieved and what we want our lives to be like. You keep moving ahead but not necessarily toward your real desires.

This is where the magic of pausing comes in.

A moment for stopping,

reevaluating,

and reflecting

is quite transformative.

It helps us count our wins and re-adjust our ways to ensure that we are making progress towards the life we actually desire.

The Value of Pausing

Pausing does not mean only ceasing activities; it creates room for thinking deeply or doing some self-evaluation. The world today moves at a fast pace; therefore, taking breaks looks as if one is slowing down their progress. However, these are moments where things become clearer and the burden of daily activities fades in the long run. These are reasons why pausing is important:

  1. Mental Clarity: Constant activity can cloud our judgment and decision-making abilities. Pausing helps clear the mental clutter, allowing us to think more clearly.
  2. Stress Reduction: Taking a break reduces stress and prevents burnout. It gives our mind and body time to recover and rejuvenate.
  3. Perspective: Stepping back from our daily routines provides a fresh perspective on our challenges and goals. It helps us see the bigger picture and evaluate our progress objectively.

Reassessing Your Life

Once you’ve taken the time to pause, the next step is to reassess your life. This is a big one and often scary. It involves evaluating where you are currently and where you want to be. Ask yourself:

  • What are my core values and goals?
  • Am I living in alignment with these values and goals?
  • What areas of my life need more attention or change?

Reevaluating helps identify gaps between your current reality and your desired future. It’s a vital step in making decisions about what to prioritize and what changes need to be made.

Counting Your Wins

Amidst the hustle, we often overlook our successes. Counting your wins, no matter how small, is crucial for maintaining motivation and a positive mindset. Here’s how you can do it:

  • Reflect Daily: At the end of each day, take a few minutes to reflect on your achievements. They can be as simple as completing a task, learning something new, or making someone smile.
  • Keep a Gratitude Journal: Write down your wins and things you’re grateful for. This practice helps reinforce a positive outlook and reminds you of your progress.
  • Celebrate Milestones: Acknowledge and celebrate significant milestones. Rewarding yourself reinforces positive behaviour and keeps you motivated.

Getting the Life You Want

By pausing, reassessing, and counting your wins, you are better equipped to design the life you want. Here are some steps to help you get there:

  1. Set Clear Goals: Define what success looks like for you. Set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals.
  2. Create a Plan: Develop a step-by-step plan to achieve your goals. Break down big goals into smaller, manageable tasks.
  3. Stay Flexible: Life is unpredictable. Be prepared to adjust your plans as needed while keeping your end goals in sight.
  4. Seek Support: Surround yourself with positive influences and seek support from friends, family, or mentors. They can provide guidance and encouragement.
  5. Practice Self-Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Understand that setbacks are part of the journey. Learn from them and keep moving forward.

The journey to achieving the life you want starts with a simple pause. By taking the time to reflect, reassess, and count your wins, you empower yourself to make informed decisions and align your actions with your true desires. Remember, life is not just about reaching the destination but also about appreciating the journey. So, take a deep breath, pause, and embrace the power of reflection. Your future self will thank you for it.

How do you choose a photographer

Why might you need a photographer, you ask?

In today’s world of smartphones and the evolving realm of photography, this question might seem perplexing. Why invest in a portrait photographer when you can snap a picture with your phone and share it on social media? Isn’t that what matters most nowadays?

Here at Cristina Stoian Portraits in Amsterdam, our mission goes beyond simply providing beautiful images. While our photography is undeniably stunning, it’s also profoundly impactful. It’s about more than just taking pictures—it’s about shaping perceptions. How do you want the world to see you? How do you envision yourself being captured? When was the last time you felt empowered in your own skin?

Think about the portraits of your grandparents and great-grandparents. What do they represent? They’re not just pieces of paper tucked away in albums; they’re a testament to your history, your lineage, and your legacy from those who’ve cherished you. That’s why you’re seeking a photographer and not just any photographer. You’re searching for someone who understands not only the technical aspects but also the art of connection during a shoot. Someone who can capture your essence and create artwork that reflects the beauty seen by those who love you most.

When is the right time for a professional portrait photographer?

You need one when you’re commemorating a milestone or a cherished relationship—whether it’s with your mother, daughter, sister, or best friend. You need a professional when you’re ready to create timeless artwork that your descendants will treasure. You need one when you want to capture and celebrate your family’s love today, creating heirlooms that adorn your walls and remind your children of the love surrounding them.

How do you choose a portrait photographer?

It takes research. Explore galleries of photographers in your area whose work resonates with you. Reach out to discuss your vision and the types of artwork you’re considering. Talk about products, service steps, pricing, and delivery methods. Educate yourself on your options before making an informed decision.

As for us at Cristina Stoian Portraits, we hope you’ll consider us for your portraiture needs. Check out our Q&A page for insights into our process, and feel free to contact us for a personal consultation.

Contemporary portraiture lies at the heart of our business. Capturing women at every stage of life, highlighting their beauty, and celebrating their legacy is our passion. Why schedule a portrait session?

Because you deserve more than simply checking tasks off your list. Being photographed at your best is liberating. From the style consultation to the final click of the camera, it’s about embracing your confidence and beauty. Investing in yourself means recognizing your value and teaching your daughters the same.

Who do we serve?

Primarily, we work with women—though we’re not exclusive. Our clients wear many hats, they’re busy, decisive, and value-driven. They’re seekers of deeper meaning, and they understand the importance of self-discovery.

What will you gain?

You’ll rediscover your beauty and embrace it with confidence. Let’s embark on this journey together and find that inner spark once again.

If you find yourself resonating with our approach and we haven’t had the chance to connect, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’re eager for the opportunity to capture your essence through our lens.

Q&A

What is your photography style?
My work is feminine, timeless and insightful, creating beautiful pieces of art.
I stand for women’s rounded self, powerful, dramatic and natural, it all deserves to be seen.

Who will photograph my sessions?
All photo sessions are photographed by me, Cristina Stoian, female photographer;

Where does the shoot take place?
Shoots are located at my studio. I have created an environment that is the most relaxing and warm for you to enjoy your photo shoot. Big studios and huge lights can be overwhelming and clearly does not create intimacy between photographer and client.

Are the women on your website models?
No, all the women on my website are clients and most of them have never had shoots before.

How long does a session last?
The Glamour Experience includes hair and makeup and will last 4-5 hours in total.

Who can I bring along at the photoshoot?
If you would like to share the experience with your mum, daughter, sister, friend, you are welcome to invite them into the shoot. Make it a girls day out!

What will I gain from having a Portrait Session?

Lots of women are nervous when they first speak to me about having their portraits taken.  Afterward, I hear them saying “That is one of the best things I have ever done for myself”. Some, have portrait sessions for the man in their lives, others have them just for themselves… As women, we are so hard on ourselves and are often our own harshest critics. The self-confidence and self-esteem that can be gained from a portrait shoot are amazing.

One of my favourite parts of a portrait session is speaking to clients after they have viewed their images when they realise; actually, yes, they are beautiful, powerful, even sexy. “l  feel beautiful, powerful, renewed, empowered. It changed the way I see myself. Re-connecting with my Big Self, powerful, sexy, unstoppable. Amazing!” Blanca Vergara

How long should I book before my shoot?
If you want to give the folio box or prints as a gift, I would recommend booking 2 weeks in advance. It takes about 15 days to invite you to the reveal session, where you will pick your prints.

Do you retouch the images?
Yes, all your images are retouched, spots and blemishes are removed unless stated otherwise.

Do you offer hair styling and make-up?
Yes, definitely, I work with a wonderful, talented team of hair and make-up artists, which I trust with my image and yours.

What if I am not happy with my figure?
A question asked by so many women. “I am not ready yet. I need to lose 25 kilos before my session.” If we all waited until we lost weight and looked perfect we could be waiting a long time..everyone has perfections and imperfections that is what makes us unique. My job as a Portrait Photographer is to emphasize your many positives and to minimise any areas you may feel self-conscious about, through smart posing and direction.

What do I bring to the session?
I normally suggest about 4-5 outfits that work for you. All this is discussed in the consultation session.

How will I know how to pose?
I will work with you and show you the poses that will work for you and your body. I will direct your poses and you don’t need to have any prior experience.

When do I pick up my photos?
15 days after your shoot there will be a face-to-face session at my studio, I call the “Reveal”, where you will get to pick your printed and matted photos. How many you buy, it’s up to you.

Feeling good in your own skin

How often do we look in the mirror and all we can see is our imperfections?
What would it give for you to see your qualities first instead of hearing your judging voice?
Transform what you see in your mind and half of the problem is solved already.
Make peace with who you are and what you look like and start loving yourself a bit more.
Once you focus on the beautiful part, the rest follows along and once you feel good, you look your best. I think this it’s hormonal, at the cell level.
So do a happy dance in front of the mirror, pick some angel cards, light a candle, put on makeup, do whatever makes you feel good and you will see a difference!
A lot of people never make peace with who they are. They are in a constant battle with themselves, always trying to change something about their appearance.

It’s not easy to love yourself when the world is constantly telling you that you’re not good enough. But you have to start somewhere.

Just look in the mirror and find one thing that you like about yourself. It can be anything, no matter how small. And then build from there.
Remember, there is no one else like you in this world. You are unique and special, just the way you are. So love yourself… today and always.
